The City of Cotati is nationally and statewide recognized for excellence in budgeting and financial reporting. The City has received multiple consecutive awards from both the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) for its budget documents and financial statements. These recognitions reflect Cotati’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and clear communication about how public resources are planned, managed, and reported.
Since 2018, the City has earned GFOA awards in all three major financial reporting categories - the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (Annual Comprehensive Financial Report), and the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award.
As a result, the City of Cotati has been recognized with the GFOA Triple Crown Award and is the only city in Sonoma County to receive this distinction. This achievement represents the highest level of recognition in governmental finance and underscores the City’s long-standing dedication to best practices in public financial management.
