Building Permit Process
1. Download and fill out the Building Permit Application. Paper forms are also available at the Community Development Department office. You may also apply through our online portal Cloudpermit through the following link. Account creation is required for first-time users: https://us.cloudpermit.com/gov/login
2. Send the application and any supporting documents to permits@cotaticity.gov or submit through Cloudpermit. If the attachments are too large to be emailed, please send the documents via https://wetransfer.com/ or https://www.dropbox.com/. (**Please note that we accept electronic plans set submittals ONLY**). For any additional forms you may need related to green building requirements, demolition, and more, please visit our main Building page.
3. Once the permit has been received, it will be evaluated by the Community Development Department. Review can take up to 2-3 business days for over the counter permits, and up to 30 days for larger projects (new builds, etc.). After the permit has been reviewed and approved, you will be provided the permit number and fees due via email, along with instructions to make payment. Payment can be made online, over the phone or in person at the Community Development Department office.
4. Community Development staff will email you the issued permit. This email will also provide instructions on how to schedule inspections for your permit.
If you have questions, please call 707-665-3636 or email permits@cotaticity.gov between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, excluding 12-1 for lunch, Monday through Thursday.
