New Residential Sample Plans and Approvals New Residential Building Permit Checklist (AB 2234)
Below are examples of approved plans and supporting documents for five different residential project types. These documents are provided as examples to help designers meet building permit submittal requirements, per Assembly Bill 2234.
Assembly Bill 2234 (AB 2234) went into effect January 1, 2024. The bill aims to streamline the "post-entitlement" permit process, which includes building, demolition, grading, and off-site permits that are at least two-thirds residential. Jurisdictions must provide permit application checklists specifying required application materials as well as examples of at least five types of approved housing development applications and permits, including accessory dwelling units, duplexes, townhomes, multi-family developments, and mixed-use developments.
